RODRIGUES
Landbased Itinerary Liveaboard Itinerary

The pristine coral reefs of Rodrigues offer an ideal scuba diving destination. Rodrigues isolated location and limited commercial development have always restricted fishing activities to a minimum. The absence of industrial development on this remote island has spared its coral reefs from pollution. Many experts rate the scuba diving around Rodrigues as the best in the Indian Ocean, comparing favourably with that in the outer Maldives.

In the lagoons, the pirogues are generally pole propelled. The coral reef has therefore remained untouched and is an outstanding divers' paradise. One of the main attractions divers would find when visiting Rodrigues is its coral reef. Rodrigues' coral reef is extremely beautiful due to its almost untouched natural characteristics and the way in which corals have developed without human interference.

Although there are other very interesting diving areas to explore, this reef is one of the main places that divers who go to Rodrigues should visit.

Best Time to Travel:

The best time to dive here are the months of October, November, December, and January when there is good visibility, smooth sea and transit of large marine mammals like humpback whales. The water temperature at this time is between 28 and 30 degrees.
