Terengganu - Tanjong Jara


Terengganu is endowed with a wealth of charming natural landscapes, including lush tropical jungles, long stretches of beach along the 225-kilometre coastline, quaint fishing villages and exotic islands. There is a myriad of activities offered in this area, from Eco-tourism adventures to diving and golf.

Tanjong Jara Resort is situated on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, between Kuala Terengganu in the North and Kuantan in the South. From here you can dive Tenggol Island. Tenggol Island is part of the fabulous Terengganu Marine Park and is reached in approximately 45 minutes by speedboat. The island is famous for its tropical jungle, sandy white beaches and most of all, the untouched coral gardens and rare species of marine life.

There are about 13 dive spots which offer unforgettable under water experiences for the beginner and exciting adventures for experienced divers. Please note that all water sports activities and Eco-tourism adventures tours are subject to weather conditions

Best Time to Travel : Between April and October. Some resorts are closed during the North-east Monsoon, which blows from November to March. Equatorial climate with uniform temperatures throughout the year. Temperatures range from 22oC in the early morning to 34oC at noon. Rainfall is common throughout the year, averaging 200-250 cm per year. The period from November to early March are the wetter months.

Tenggol Island

The small and rugged island of Pulau Tenggol is a forgotten gem set in the azure waters of the South China Sea - an emerald of deep, green forested interior flanked by white powder beaches and beautiful reefs.

Tenggol Island is part of the fabulous Terengganu Marine Park. This wild island with beaches and palm fringed bays, awashed with pristine warm water is a divers' paradise. Tenggol features a dramatic drop-off on the eastern side of the island to 48ft. Tenggol offers a colourful plethora of dive sites with various flavours to satisfy divers with ranging interest and levels of diving proficiency. Calm coral gardens with their colourful marine life provide an unforgettable experience for beginning divers.

More experienced divers can pump up the adrenaline doing dives in farther, more demanding sites such as the affectionately named 'Fishbowl' and 'The Highway', where strong currents, deeper waters and pelagics prevail.
