SOLOMON ISLANDS
Landbased Itinerary Liveaboard Itinerary

The Solomon Islands are located on the so called rim of fire in the tropical South Pacific. The Solomon population is predominantly Melanesian with some Polynesian and Micronesian influence. By south pacific standards the country is underdeveloped and tourism is still in its infancy. Visiting the Solomon Islands is like going back in time as most of the people still make a living by diving and catching fish from their dugout canoes and growing their fruit and vegetables in the tropical rainforests which abound on the islands. Most dwellings are made from rainforest materials.

The majority of tourists are scuba divers and game fishermen. The diving in the Solomons is considered the best in the pacific and every dive is different. Apart from the reefs and walls there is an abundance of WWII wrecks to dive on. Scuba divers regularly see turtles, manta rays eagle rays reef sharks and much more. Dolphins and Manatee can be encountered whilst scuba diving also. Daytrips are available to WWII wreck sites and places of cultural interest such as skull sites or volcanic areas where the Megapode birds lay their eggs in the hot soil. Kayaks and mountain bikes can be hired. Snorkel mask and dive gear is available for hire also. Transport is provided to nearby surfing sites.

As beautiful below as it is above...the warm sparkling clear waters hold a visual feast to delight the most fastidious diving or snorkelling enthusiast. Here, Mother Nature weaves her watery spell amongst the wrecks of World War II. You will experience an extraordinary array of differing structures and bio-assemblage; including Shallow and deep coral gardens with magnificent drop-offs, ledges and gutters, sharks, all manner of light game fish and an enormous range of reef fish. Turtles and, mantas and eagle rays are common sights, together with friendly Hammerheads.

Solomon Islands diving has gained an enviable world-wide reputation that's unsurpassed. Throughout these magic islands you will find an endless variety of dive sites to suit all tastes and levels of experience. If you are not a diver, but interested in learning, there could be no better place to discover this whole new world, than the warm crystal clear waters of the Solomon Islands.
